Alternative Youth Media and Development Initiative (AYMDI)

The Alternative Youth Media and Development Initiative (AYMDI) is the non-governmental organization (NGO) arm of Alternative Youth Radio (AYR). Established to support AYR’s mission of empowering young people in rural Liberia, AYMDI focuses on community development, youth empowerment, and media education.

Our Vision

To create lasting change in rural Liberia by providing youth with the tools, resources, and opportunities to improve their lives and contribute to their communities.

Our Programs

  • Youth Empowerment: Providing training, mentorship, and resources to help young people develop leadership skills and become active participants in their communities.
  • Media Education: Offering workshops and training in journalism, media production, and communication to equip young people with the skills needed to thrive in the media industry.
  • Community Development: Supporting projects that address key issues such as education, health, and economic development in rural communities.
  • Advocacy and Awareness: Raising awareness about important social issues affecting youth and advocating for policies that promote their rights and opportunities.
